Park West Gallery Lies About Credentials of their Dali "Expert" Bernard Ewell

William Smith, Senior Auctioneer at Park West Gallery has sent out to at least two Park West Gallery clients that we know about, a package of material designed to "prove" to them that the questionable Salvador Dali prints they have purchased are genuine and valuable.

One of these letters is posted below, dated 8 April 08. The other one was sent out in May of this year.

The letters include statements which seek to establish Bernard Ewell, a Santa Fe based art appraiser who has contracted with Park West Gallery to do authentications and appraisals, as an expert on Salvador Dali works.

The letters have gone out with a package of documents which further seek to validate the Park West Gallery assertions about the genuineness and value of their Dali offerings. They cite the authority of the Albarettos and of Bernard Ewell.

Included in this package is an excerpt from Bernard Ewell's website which list the reasons he should be considered a Salvador Dali expert.

This includes the following statement attributed to the New York Modern Prints Department of Sotheby's:

Fine Art Registry wrote to Sotheby's to verify that this statement was true and valid.

The reply from a Sotheby's spokesperson, dated 22 May 08 is as follows:

In general the documentation provided is highly questionable.

This statement sent out by Bill Smith is a blatant invention.
